This month, Australian treat icon Wendy’s Milk Bar is celebrating 37 years in business – and we want to hand out the presents!
With more than 125 stores across Australia, the brand has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1979 to become a national favourite.
Wendy’s Milk Bar CEO, Karin Hattingh, said it has been a very busy past couple of years for the company and is pleased to see that the brand is staying true to its founding principles.
“While the look of Wendy’s Milk Bar stores today differs from the look of the very first store 37 years ago, the company continues to be driven by one simple philosophy – give customers what they want and make it fun,” Ms Hattingh said.
“This philosophy has played a key part in the brand’s ongoing success and will continue to do so as we look forward to a bright and promising future for the brand.”
Throughout its history, Wendy’s Milk Bar has developed and introduced many products to provide customers with increased choice.
“We have some exciting plans ahead, including fresh new branding, so it is a great time to be part of one of the nation’s most recognised and well-loved franchises.” Ms Hattingh said.
To celebrate their 37th birthday on July 31, Wendy’s Milk Bar will be offering customers the chance to win one of 37 free 500ml tubs of ice-cream, just for answering (in 25 words or less) the question “who the top 5 people you would like to share your ice cream with and why?” The competition will be run through the Wendy’s Facebook site on Sunday 31 July and closes 5pm Monday 1 August so be quick to enter.
Wendy’s began in a suburban shopping centre in Adelaide in 1979, when entrepreneurs Geoff Davis and Phil Rogers opened the doors to their unique treat business with a focus on hot dogs, quality ice-cream and fun.
The business has become an Australian icon, with more than 125 stores nationwide. The award-winning franchise has grown from hot dogs and ice-cream to now offer an expanded range including quality coffee, hot chips, churros, specialty cakes and a breakfast menu.
